About rice

Rice is one of the oldest cultivated crops. It was probably first farmed in Australia and there is an evidence of its spread in the Chinese Pearl River Basin 8,200 – 13,500 years ago. Independently of that, it also spread in the Amazon. Today, there are thousands of types of rice and they cover approximately 20% of the total world food consumption.
